Elementary Choir
Elementary choir for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Beginning Choir:
Designed for K-3rd grade students.
This engaging introductory class is for students who are beginning their music journey, as well as those with one to two years of prior musical experience. Through a combination of singing, movement, rhythm activities, games, and hands-on learning, students will build a strong musical foundation while developing confidence and a love for music.
Throughout the year, students will:
♪Identify, read, and perform basic rhythm patterns
♪Explore rhythm through the use of classroom percussion instruments
♪Learn and apply solfege syllables and Curwen hand signs
♪Improve vocal skills by learning to sing with accurate pitch and healthy tone
♪Strengthen listening skills through engaging activities
♪Discover the families of the orchestra
♪Create and maintain a personal music notebook throughout the year
♪Participate in choir for academy performances
Intermediate Elementary Choir:
Designed for 4rd-6th grade students
The Intermediate Elementary Choir is for students who have completed at least two years of Beginning Elementary Choir, have received private or group music instruction, and are continuing to develop their musical abilities.
Students refine their vocal technique while building confidence in part-singing through two- and three-part choral literature.
Students in this ensemble are also eligible to participate in the academy’s spring competition, providing an opportunity to further develop their musicianship in a performance setting.
